Tarja Turunen's first solo album in english was released three years ago. My Winter Storm went to the top of the charts in Finland and was a sales success, but the artistic merit of the album was weak. Former Nightwish singer, did not get blown their own in the true spirit of her music.

Stiff and clumsy, What Lies Beneath does not succeed any better.

Turunen marks are still there. The soprano interprets beautiful other live metal songs, which have been applied in her music like a shade.

Unfortunately, the outcome does not live and breathe. Turunen sings with emotion, but otherwise the songs are going forward sluggishly. She has some good ideas, but they are drowning and joyless.

In the album plays drummer Mike Terrana and guitarist Marzi Nyman (some weird expression (???)), but the band did not any chemistry sense. Turunen need to order a real band and not a professional calm session musicians who share performing.

What Lies Beneath is a surprisingly amateurish heavy metal album by an artist who has worked in metal music for over ten years.
