Tarja Walks On
It's with great honour we can see that Tarja Turunen is back in the heat again. She is now here with her first international album release, the spectacular comeback album "My Winter Storm". Nightwish has also moved forward with the Swede, Anette Olzon, but she's no Tarja.
Michael Johansson met Tarja in Finland on September 22nd 2007, a few weeks before the albumrelease, and she was on a splendid mood. When she got a copy of SLICE 2006 she wanted to keep it (which of course was our intention) "I was thin back then", she joked, but we cannot see any gain of weight from out view.
Not every star wants to pose with magazines, but Tarja has always taken the time to do it for us who works for SLICE. The fact that it is a magazine with a very limited production, has never seemed to bother her. Perhaps it's because she likes mr. Johansson and respects his work, that's probably a fair opinion. We know that our first metting in 2002 resulted in pictures that her mother, who passed away shortly after, liked. But it was a long time ago and there have been a few meetings since then.
In some ways, it feels like Tarja has come out as the winner in this fight (if you can call it that, she was fired without anyone talking to her) since she has arised with this pride and this album.
A song that "I Walk Alone" beats everything that Nightwish has produced in their way, completely depended on Tarja. What she has can not be replaced and this is a fact. Nightwish has a unique sound which they take good care of, but they do not have Tarja any longer. We are looking forward your first visit in Sweden, standing on your own feet Tarja, you'll do good for sure.
